Following the relaxations in Covid 19 travel restrictions across Africa at the end of September 2020, we were once again able to visit Uganda. During the times of international lockdown, some of our local partners were involved in a number of test sites where various strains of Cannabis were tested under different growing conditions.
We were fortunate enough to be given a tour of these operations.
In Uganda it is common practice to grow various complimentary crops on the same area at the same time. Due the the abundance of nutrition in the fertile soil this practice is able to use hardier plants to protect weaker ones from the elements (heavy wind or rain) as well as for plants that will provide natural nutrition back into the soil to be grown simultaneously with the main crop to be harvested.
It is very clear that the Cannabis grows very rapidly in Uganda! With the correct quality control measures in place it is certain that high yields of high quality plant can be grown on a year round basis.
From the early stages as seedlings in the nursery, through the planting out phase into the flowering phase, the plants remain green and healthy looking with minimal intervention.
